Is there a trick to get the code to work? It automatically gives me the 20% off but will not accept the 12 free cards.

I think you stopped in the process too early. It offers you other matching products at 20% off, just click on continue to cart or something like that and it will take you to a page with all of the billing info. Below the billing info is the code box that you will need to type the code 12CARDS. That will knock the price down to just shipping of $5.99 and tax.
